Eight Bells Mountain Inn is a proudly South African-owned and family-run resort hotel set in a picturesque mountain landscape at the foot of the Robinson Pass in the Outeniqua Mountains, just outside of Mossel Bay. We are a full-service, four-star hotel situated on a beautiful 160-hectare estate with an on-site restaurant, as well as a variety of amenities and outdoor recreation facilities—including horseback riding, tennis, squash, swimming, lawn bowls, and hiking trails. We have 25 rooms, ranging from standard en-suite rooms and family units to log cabin-style chalets and thatched rondavels. Our beautiful gardens and mountain views provide an idyllic setting for weddings, special occasions, or retreats.
Established more than 90 years ago, Eight Bells has strong ties to its history and traditions. Today, our aim is to blend those traditions and old-world charm with modern comforts, four-star amenities, and excellent service. Eight Bells exudes nostalgia and comfort, offering a “home away from home” for many and providing a serene place to relax and reset.
As a family-run hotel, our staff members are very important to us! All are from the local community of Ruiterbos, with many staff members being multi-generational or having more than 30 years of service at the hotel. In many ways, they are our greatest asset—their knowledge, experience, and passion for Eight Bells make us who we are!
